In Episode 11 of 𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗗𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗬 (𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝘅 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱) Season 2, we feature 𝗜𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗸𝗮𝘁𝘂, a Malaysian artist based in Singapore who is an actor, composer, playwright, producer, and brand consultant & creative strategist. He received the Innovation in Musical Theatre award at the 2017 BOH Cameronian Arts Awards (Malaysia) for co-creating, composing, musical directing, and producing Mahsuri (And Other Peculiar Tales) with Liver & Lung. Joining him is 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗼, a harpist and winner of the President’s Young Performer Concert, who holds a Master’s in Harp Performance from the New England Conservatory (Boston, USA). She is currently a harp lecturer at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and performs both locally and internationally.

In Episode 12 of 𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗗𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗬 (𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝘅 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱) Season 2, we feature 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘆 𝗡𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗼𝗲, one of Singapore’s most sought-after, award-winning multi-instrumentalists specializing in suona, guanzi, and saxophone, known for his versatility in blending Chinese classical music with cross-cultural and cross-genre collaborations, and currently a resident musician with Ding Yi Music Company. Joining him is 𝗝𝗼 𝗧𝗮𝗻, an award-winning actor and playwright celebrated for her acclaimed works King, Forked, and Session Zero. Her plays have toured internationally — with King staged in Malaysia, Sydney, and Edinburgh — and Por Por’s Big Fat Surprise Wedding co-headlining Adelaide’s OzAsia Festival. Jo also co-created Dungeons and Distractions with Edward Choy, a live Dungeons and Dragons game complete with fight choreography and received several sold-out stagings.

Exploring the intersectionalities and possibilities of the sonic and physical realms, the performance project aims to promulgate the concepts of improvisation, exploration, experimentation and collision.

Artists are challenged to meet on the afternoon of performance day at 5pm to discuss their strategies (if any) for the evening’s improvisation performance at 8pm. The spontaneity of each unique sharing thus underscores its own ephemerality, for makers and viewers.
